All of my life, I have been looking for someone who does something for me. Someone who gets my heart pounding, someone who creates silly cliche clingy novel scenarios with me in real life. Someone who is capable of becoming that one big kiss before the curtains falls, that ‘forever’, my ‘happily ever after’.

But, soon there came a point in my life when forevers lost their meaning for me. No, I didn’t stop believing in true love. Rather, I realised that love stories in real life don’t end with ‘and then they lived together, happily ever after.’ Instead, they tend to end with ‘that’s when they decided to walk on different paths.’ I stopped believing in soulmates and that there is one and only person for everyone.

And, then I met him, this guy with dreamy eyes and a stupid cute grin. He created every silly novel scenario with me without pointing out how cliche it was. He slowly danced with me while looking right in my eyes and matched my energy when I hopped around. He got my heart pounding every single day that I called him mine.

I love him, with all my heart, and I always will. Yes, I still know that love stories in real life don’t end with a ‘happily ever after’ (only the rare ones do). But, I also know that soulmates do exist. It is true that you might not get to spend the rest of your lives with them. But, every second spent with them will feel like it’s worth your whole life. So, even if you get just a few years, a few months, a few days or even a few hours. Don’t let that chance slip. Because, a ‘happily ever after’ might not happen for you, but the worth doesn’t lie in the ‘ever after.’
